EngieM2M, the Belgian SNO (SIGFOX Network Operator) for SIGFOX, just announced the nationwide availability of the SIGFOX network.

The SIGFOX network is rapidly expanding.

SIGFOX is the world’s leading provider of dedicated connectivity for the Internet of Things. The network complements existing high-bandwidth systems by providing simple, economical, energy-efficient two-way transmission of small quantities of data over long distances. It lowers the barriers to wide implementation of IoT solutions and greatly extends the battery and service life of connected devices.

We have been developing SIGFOX devices from the beginning, long before the network was available in Belgium. Working closely together with SIGFOX, we were the first company develop a commercial application that communicates bidirectionally over the Sigfox network.

Examples of our SIGFOX-based accomplishments include:

  • The Smart Valve

    Quicksand developed the electronics for the smart valve, a SIGFOX certified smart water meter developed in cooperation with Hydroko.

  • TankU
    TankU is a project commissioned by Engie to create an ultrasonic fluid level metering device that can be used on fueltanks and watertanks.
    Quicksand is designing all the electronics for this project.

  • QW development kits
    The QW development kits are designed to rapidly explore the SIGFOX network. It is a SIGFOX certified development kit based on the MBED toolflow combined with open source application examples.
  • Developing and evaluating a custom SIGFOX application can be established in under 10 minutes after opening the box. Simply download one of the code examples, tailor it to your needs, compile and program, done.
