Lab test equipment for electro-active gels
Our partner imec asked us to design a specific control and measurement device for electro-active gels they are developing in the lab. Electroactive (EA) gels are polymers that expand when a voltage is applied to them. One target application for these gels is to build heart valves than can easily be controlled electronically.
The requirements for this system are: build a custom embedded, portable system that features:
- an impedance measurement circuit
- a controllable voltage output
- attractive and clear graphical user interface with color touchscreen
- internal DSP (digital signal processing) unit
- USB port for logging, charging and firmware updates
- rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
- custom housing
- smal series production
